About

Hello, my name is Simon and this blog is my platform for sharing bits of life with the world. More about me? Well, I don’t really want to label myself but I have two young children, a full time academic job and as for my age? Karl Jung said that:

“The first half of life is devoted to forming a healthy ego, the second half is going inward and letting go of it.”

and I have probably begun letting go for the last 4-5 years. I believe in human progress, transcendence, love and that we are all part of a collective interweaving where our individual actions and thoughts shape the world we live in.

A great inspiration for my life is the social philosophy of Erich Fromm and like him I often write to better understand and consolidate my thoughts, not always with a purpose other than to muse some idea into something coherent for me. Often, I just find something interesting and want to share it, so in places this could get rather random. Which probably explains the name of this endeavour.

Why Anarchist?

Well, firstly because I did not know what I was going to be doing with this project. Secondly because my life has been rather chaotic. Thirdly, I don’t really believe in the current systems that govern our lives. I believe strongly in personal and social ethics but that’s so far removed from the major forces of government these days that really to be ethical seems to me to be anti-establishment.

Why Accident

I did not plan to be blogging, in fact I really did not plan to be who I am or where I am, my life does seem rather accidental.

  9. I love the Jung quote! I’ve heard it put that the first half of phase of life is a process of differentiation, and the second phase is a process of un-differentiation. Both phases are equally valuable. Like you, I think I’m well into Phase II… looking forward to reading more.

    • Thank-you. As a 17 year old, I recall having the idea that by the time I died, I wanted to know what it meant to be a human, to have experience what it means. That was either wise or foolish, but I feel the life has been delivering my wishes.

Rupa means form? lovely name 😀

I’ve read your intro before but your words quoted above ring out much more loudly amidst the chaos of today’s governing forces. Thanks
